... and textures with a creative mind characterises the work of full-time Artist and Designer Beate Minderjahn. She believes that colour has the power to affect our well-being, to inspire emotions and to stimulate our minds.
Born in Germany Beate immigrated to New Zealand in 1999 with her husband and son. After graduating Business Management and running her own company in Germany, Beate finally decided to turn her life-long passion for Interiors, Art and Design into a career. In November 2003 Beate completed her Interior Design studies. The Design principles and her many years experience as an artist is a wonderful combination to create individual spaces. Alongside painting, Beate designs Art Cards, Digital Photo Art and her own fashion label “Positive Fashion for Kids”.
Beate's original art works can be found in galleries and at selected retailers in New Zealand. Her art has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Germany, New Zealand and USA. She is well known for her large abstract paintings and mixed media art, her round series "Circles", her Acrylic range "Colour meets Texture", Collages and Digital Photo Art “Digi-Vision”.
“Each of my abstract paintings is a new challenge and reveals a fragment of life. It is the constant alternating process of concealing and uncovering, creating with my hands, exploring colours, textures and language. Through different media my art invites the viewer to contemplate further on a soul-searching moment – to experience a visual meditation. Beauty plays an influential role in my abstract painting style which continues to evolve into an ongoing artistic journey of discovery”.
